Color Guard
What is color guard?
Color guard is a fine arts performance activity that incorporates dancing, performing, and manipulating props such as flags, rifles, and sabres. The color guard is a part of the larger Cypress Ranch Band program. During the first semester we are a part of the marching band and attend all football games and contests throughout the fall semester. During the second semester we compete and perform as a separate group to prerecorded music inside gyms and compete throughout February and March.
Do you need any experience?
No! No experience is required to join the color guard! We will teach you everything you need to know about color guard and how to be a successful member. Backgrounds in dance, cheer, theatre, or any performing group are always helpful but not required in any way.
Does color guard count towards a PE credit?
Yes, it does! Participation in the marching band counts as a half credit towards your PE requirements. Participation in the second semester counts as a fine arts credit.
