Audition Information
Wind auditions will be heard during classes starting on May 14th. Cypress Ranch directors will travel to the middle schools to hear incoming freshmen. The excerpt is worth 100 points. Each major scale and arpeggio is worth 10 points and the chromatic scale is worth 30 points, making the scale portion total 150 points. The total audition score is out of 250 points.
Excerpts
This year we are using excerpts from Festive Overture by Dmitri Shostakovich, arranged by Donald Hunsberger. The excerpts are specific for each instrument. Note: The piccolo excerpt must be performed in addition to the flute excerpt, for those interested in auditioning for piccolo. The excerpt will be worth 100 points.
